Happy #NationalYogaMonth

There are so many health benefits associated with practicing yoga – it increases your blood flow, improves your posture, builds muscle strength and so much more! So today, in honor of National Yoga Month, we’re bringing you a yoga pose from our resident yogi, Wendy Methvin. *Wendy offers yoga instruction every Wednesday morning at the Wexford Clubhouse from 8:45-9:45 pm.This is Side Plank I (Vasisthasana). It’s considered an arm balance pose. Arm balances shape and tone our shoulders and core. You don’t need to be a gymnast or have superhero strength to do arm balances, you just need patience. They teach us to cultivate focus and trust. They’re the perfect blend of strength and alignment.

Wellness Wednesday

Wexford Wellness activities are in full swing!

Yoga continues every Thursday from 8:30-9:30 am with Wendy Methvin in the Clubhouse.

With the warmer weather, we’ve brought back Water Aerobics, which is offered every Monday from 12-1 pm with Judy Caramello in the Wexford Pool. *Water weights & noodles are available.

Plus, we’re adding monthly special events! This month we hosted an Introduction to Tai Chi & Meditation. This hour and a half session, facilitated by John Kozak (Tai Chi) and Patte Ranney (Meditation), was well received and requested to be brought back!

Upcoming special events include: Paddleboard Yoga, Tai Chi and a Wexford 5K (just to name a few!).

Wexford Launches Wellness Program

When you live in Hilton Head, why go to a gym when you can work out in a natural setting with an amazing backdrop almost year-round – and did we mention with the support of your friends & neighbors?

In recent years, activities offered by the Club (besides golf and tennis of course!) have included weekly water aerobics and sunrise salutation yoga, along with the occasional kayaking excursion – BUT this year, we’re kicking it up a notch!  In addition to those regular offerings, we are introducing our NEW Wexford Wellness Group.

Wexford Wellness’ mission is to promote health through exercise, education and nutrition. Throughout the year we’ll explore different activities designed to promote health – from bike excursions to beach walks to healthy cooking demonstrations to guest speakers and more!  The goal of this group is to create a positive, supportive atmosphere, while offering a variety of activities and educational programs.

One of the key factors of success of this group is that it’s not only a Club-driven initiative, but also a Member-driven effort.  With a core group already interested and established, the possibilities are endless!

The inaugural meeting and luncheon will be held Friday, February 27th – contact Sarah Smith at (843) 686-8810 to learn more and sign up today.  We look forward to launching this wonderful new Wexford movement!
